Adirondack Tartan Sporting Jacket
We challenge you to find another woods-and-waters jacket quite like this one, which hails from our Algonquin Fieldwear series. It’s closely modeled after an early modern hunting jacket, produced by an upstate New York sporting label that sadly is no more. Our two main adjustments to the original have been to update the cut and to swap out solid canvas for a superbly woodsy tartan. The head-turning fabric comes from British Millerain, a sixth-generation textile manufacturer in Lancashire, England—it’s waxed canvas, but with the drier hand of a traditional hunting jacket as opposed to the beeswax texture of some others. Did we mention that it’s fully detailed for hunting? Featuring a hidden bandolier for shotgun cartridges, a recoil pad, and bi-swing construction for extra shooting mobility. There is also a pheasant-sized game pocket in the rear—one that includes a cotton-nylon blood bag and unzips to become a storm flap. Features corduroy collar and sleeve facings, pleated chest pocket, waist flap pockets, slash handwarmer pockets, and a pleated chest pocket.
